Copper and copper alloy are closely related to people's lives. Copper is also the earliest use of  metal. The color of pure copper is fuchsia. Copper has good electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity, corrosion resistance and ductility. It has a density of 8.96g/m3. Copper alloys are alloys that have pure copper as their principal component and composed of one or several other elements. CNC (computer numeric control) Machining is a subtractive manufacturing process in that it involves using cutting tools to remove material as needed to form the desired part.

Application of copper alloys in rapid prototyping

Copper alloys include the following three types. The most commonly used copper alloy in CNC Machining/ CNC turning is brass.

1. Brass

a) Component: copper+ zinc

b) Feature: good machinability, corrosion resistance, strength and toughness

c) Common type: H62, H59

d) Appliance: corrosion-resistant mechanical parts, decorative lighting, decorative furniture

2. Cupronickel

a) Component: copper+ nickel

b) Feature: good strength, corrosion resistance and electric resistance

c) Common type: B5, B19

d) Appliance: electrical appliances, instruments, petrochemical industry

3. Bronze

a) Component: other copper alloys except for brass and cupronickel

b) Common type: QA15, QA17
