 Introduction to Aluminum alloy grades

In the world, the naming method of four-digit number system is commonly used to name processed aluminum and aluminum alloys, which are respectively 1×××-9××× grade series. Among them, the 1××× grade series represent pure aluminum (the mass fraction of aluminum is not less than 99.99%), such as 1285, 1060, 1085, etc.; the 2××× grade series represent aluminum alloys with copper as the main alloying element, such as 2014 , 2024, etc.; 3××× grade series indicate aluminum alloys with manganese as the main alloying element, such as 3003, 3005, 3105, etc., of which 3003 is often used as a material for metal spinning processing; 4××× grade series indicate Aluminum alloys with silicon as the main alloying element, such as 4004, 4032, etc.; 5××× grade series indicate aluminum alloys with magnesium as the main alloying element, such as 5005, 5050, 5052, etc., of which 5052 is commonly used as a material of Sheet Metal Fabrication; 6××× grade series indicate aluminum alloys with magnesium and silicon as the main alloying elements and Mg2Si phase as the strengthening phase, such as 6061, 6063, 6082, and 6××× grade series aluminum alloys are commonly used as CNC processed materials; 7××× grade series indicate aluminum alloys with zinc as the main alloying element, such as 7003, 7005, 7085, etc.; 8××× grade series indicate aluminum alloys with other alloying elements as the main alloying element, such as 8001, 8011, 8090, etc.; 9××× grade series are spare alloy groups.

In the international four-digit number system 1××× brand series, the last two digits indicate the minimum mass fraction of aluminum, for example, 1060 indicates the industrial pure aluminum with the minimum aluminum mass fraction of 99.60%, and 1350 indicates the industrial pure aluminum with the minimum aluminum mass fraction of 99.50%. In the international four-digit number system 2×××-8××× grade series, the last two digits of the grade have no special meaning.
